MY STORY

Academic by Profession.
Rider by Passion.

I began my academic journey with an M.A. from Shivaji University, Kolhapur in 2006, followed by a PhD in 2009 — specialising in Indian Writing in English, Indian English Drama, and Postcolonial Literature. Twenty years of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching have followed, without a break. What started as a simple blog sharing study notes grew organically to 4,000 subscribers, which told me something important: students were hungry for accessible, high-quality guidance.

In 2010 I founded The Criterion, an international peer-reviewed journal in English Literature — because I believed every researcher deserved an affordable, rigorous platform. Galaxy IMRJ followed in 2012, expanding the mission to all disciplines. Both have published continuously since, carrying the work of thousands of scholars from undergraduate to PhD level across the world.

The Literary Rides brand emerged from my Royal Enfield Desert Storm — because knowledge, like riding, is about the journey. VocabPro, the YouTube channels, the podcast, the books — all of it serves one belief: brilliant minds should never be held back by a lack of guidance, platform, or community.

FOR NET ASPIRANTS

Why I Mentor

I ask every new cohort the same question on the first day: what do you actually want from this degree? Most of them say the same two things — clear the NET, then teach. That answer has barely changed since 2012, when I took my first group of aspirants.

What has changed is the noise between an aspirant and a straight answer. There is no shortage of material online. There is a shortage of material that tells you which theorist is actually asked, in what form, and how often. So the notes I wrote for my own students went onto this site. Nothing here sits behind a paywall — start wherever your preparation is weakest.

THE OTHER SIDE

The Rider & Photographer

Literary Rides is not just a brand name — it is a philosophy born on the road. My Royal Enfield Desert Storm has taken me across India, and somewhere between the open highways and the chapters I was teaching, I understood that learning and riding share the same spirit: freedom, discipline, and the courage to keep moving forward.

I shoot with a Sony DSLR and document rides on Instagram at @vishwanathbite. The professor in the classroom and the rider on the highway are not two different people — they are the same conviction expressed in two different languages.
